ramroman: Obama ran on hope and change . So far just a bunch of words it appears. No real change will occur with the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell---both sides of the aisle. No doubt it is as bad as I have ever seen it. Not sure how he has any positive approval rating?

And Lip, the question still remains. Of those so called rights you listed, any of those affect you? Unless you have been involved in some activity that triggers you as a suspect, none of those things will effect you. If you have nothing to hide that is.

akentut: You can always leave the US and go live somewhere else and see if you have any rights at all. If you don't want the government to protect it's people then you don't agree with the Constitution, and you should denouce your citizenship just like Obama did in Indonesia when he was granted full citizenship there in order to attend their schools.

UltraLip: The USA Patriot Act becomes law. Among other things the law: makes it a crime for anyone to contribute money or material support for any group on the State Department’s Terror Watch List, allows the FBI to monitor and tape conversations between attorneys and clients, allows the FBI to order librarians to turn over information about patron’s reading habits, allows the government to conduct surveillance on internet and email use of US citizens without notice. The act also calls for expanded use of National Security Letters (NSLs), which allow the FBI to search telephone, email and financial records of US citizens without a court order, exempts the government from needing to reveal how evidence against suspected terrorists was obtained and authorizes indefinite detention of immigrants at the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities.

UltraLip: Kennedy clan, it sounds to me that you didn't like the Kennedys. Could it be that they're Cathloics. Not your fundamentalist, right wingers, neocons, born again "so called" Christians. Calthloics did creat many hospitals, schools and gave more to charities. Republicans came a long way going down. Those leaders Lincoln and king will spit on your grave and the republicans. UltraLip: It's still too soon to tell. Ronald Reagan, like Obama, also dropped below 50% in his 10th month in office, though Reagan's drop occurred a few days sooner in that month (Nov. 13-16, 1981) than did Obama's (Nov. 17-19, 2009).
But all presidents except John Kennedy dropped below the majority approval level at some point in their presidencies, and all recovered after the first time below this mark to go back above 50% approval.
